How does it work?

Here are the visual differences between a typical office and a private Cloud Office.

Standard Office

Cloud Office

Reliability and Security

Cloud Office is a secured, contained environment hosted at one of the DNSnetworks’ Canadian Datacenters. Running on a VMware Enterprise Platform, your workstations, servers and entire storage resource pool are housed on a fully redundant fiber channel storage platform. The Cloud Office is monitored and managed by the DNSnetworks Support Team located in Ottawa, Canada.

  • Access to resources is always online and accessible from anywhere there is an internet connection.
  • Sensitive data can be prevented from being copied onto a remote employee’s home computer.
  • Provisioning new workstations and servers is done through DNSnetworks Support team at no cost.
  • Data Backups are scheduled daily, and located in a secure DNSnetworks datacenter.
  • Datacenters experience little or no downtime due to network and power redundancy measures.

The fully managed Cloud Office solution is having your own IT helpdesk at your fingertips. A fully integrated platform covering end to end simplicity into one offering. Physical offices communicating, sharing, and collaborating together just like if everyone was at the same place, at the same moment. DNSnetworks provides you a solution that takes the headaches out of IT management.

Another feature that increases convenience is the remote display protocol PCoIP. PCoIP (PC-over-IP) display protocol delivers an end-user experience equal to the current experience of using a physical PC.

What is different

  • On LANs, the display is faster and smoother than traditional remote displays.
  • On WANs, the display protocol can compensate for an increase in latency or a reduction in bandwidth, ensuring that end users can remain productive regardless of network conditions.

DNSnetworks helps organizations provision workstations, user shares, printers, etc. in a quick and painless process. No employee within the organization is required to install applications one by one on each end user’s physical PC as everything is managed via the Cloud. Employees connect to their dedicated cloud workstation which has all their applications.

Hardware Independence

Your Cloud Office workstations are hardware-independent. Because your workstations and servers run within the datacenter infrastructure and is only accessed from a client device, your thin client, Mac workstation, or windows computer can use operating systems that might not be compatible with the hardware of the client device.

Your Cloud workstations can run any flavor of Microsoft Operation System.

The biggest question around Cloud Office is how much does it actually cost? Simple answer:  LESS. If we would compare the cost in terms of purchasing PCs (replacing old ones), server(s) in the office, offsite backups, application licensing, as well as hiring an IT company to manage it all. Well, the cost to moving to Cloud Office is actually 30-40% less. Here are some of the noticeable reductions in implementing a Cloud Office environment:

Noticeable reductions

  • A noticeable reduction in operating costs
  • Reduced amount of in office employee hardware
  • Backups are no longer required, DNS handles things from the Cloud!
  • Licensing for Office and Windows are included
  • No need in keeping in office or outsourcing IT consultants to manage your environment
  • Power consumption is drastically reduced with PoE based Thin Clients
  • Security compliance, and PCI standards are easily approved
